The body found in River Raisin in southeast Michigan is likely that of Neveah Buchanan, a 5-year-old who went missing almost 2 weeks ago.
A news conference will be held this morning at 10:30 AM in Monroe
(This article will be updated with the details of that broadcast).A fisherman is said to have found the body and called the police in the small town just 35 miles outside of Detroit.
Naveah Buchanan’s grandmother who had legal custody of her confirmed that the girl’s clothing matched what Neveah was wearing when she disappeared.
Investigators are still waiting for DNA results from the lab to confirm whether or not the body is Neveah.
The cause of death is not set in stone, but authorities suspect it may have been a murder: George Kennedy and Roy Smith are both being held in relation to the death – Kennedy is a convicted sex offender.
